dc.description.abstract | Smaalenenes is the region to the East of the Kristianiafjord. The minerals are extracted from very coarse grained granitic veins - pegmatite - in the Archæan. Orud mine (33 metres deep and 66 metres long) is probably the largest feldspar- mine in Norway; about 1000 tons very fine feldspar have been extracted from it. The impure feldspar from Stryger mine is exported to Rouen for making buttons and beads. From the Greaker- and Erte-mines is extracted mica (muscovite). The worth of mica in plates exported from Norway is given on pag. 90 ( 1 krone = 1 s. 1 1\/3 d.) Some mica in powder (from a mill at Ise railwaystation) is also exported. | |
