dc.description.abstractThis Second Workshop of the I.A.G.\/A.I.G. Working Group SEDIBUD (Sediment Budgets in Cold Environments) builds on four previous ESF SEDIFLUX Science Meetings held in Saudarkrokur (Iceland) in June 2004, Clermont-Ferrand (France) in January 2005, Durham (UK) in December 2005 and Trondheim (Norway) in the end of October\/beginning of November 2006.\rA first kick-off Meeting of the new I.A.G.\/A.I.G. Working Group SEDIBUD took place during the third ESF SEDIFLUX Science Meeting in Durham, and the fourth ESF SEDIFLUX Science Meeting in Trondheim was organised in combination with the first I.A.G.\/A.I.G. SEDIBUD Workshop.\rThe theme of this Second I.A.G.\/A.I.G. SEDIBUD Workshop is Sediment Fluxes and Sediment Budgets in Changing High-Latitude & High-Altitude Cold Environments. The Workshop is split between scientific paper and poster presentations, presentation and discussion of SEDIBUD key test sites, discussions within defined work groups and a guided field trip to K\u00E4rkevagge.\rThis workshop will address the key aim of SEDIBUD to discuss Source-to-Sink-Fluxes and Sediment Budgets in Changing Cold Environments. Major emphasis will be given to consequences of climate change, scaling issues and source-to-sink correlations.\rCentral issues will be the presentation and discussion of the SEDIFLUX Manual (First Edition), the selection of SEDIBUD key test sites, the discussion and development of the SEDIBUD metadata database, the discussion of relevant SEDIBUD science questions and the development of further ideas to extend the scientific activities within SEDIBUD in a global framework.
