Instructions for the systematisation of geological data and compilation of the registration form for the Ore Data Base

Abstract

This report provides guidance for systematisation of geological data from the individual deposits to be stores in the Ore Data Base. This is built on NGUs former data base (FORIBA) (i.e.ore deposits registered in the Mineral Deposit Archive at NGU) which contained deposit numbers given by Foslie and Paulsen. The instruction is derived from the screen pictures to the database, and describes all fields which can be filled out. Options are given for most of the fields. These option lists are to be updated as texts and explanations are improved during the work with the database. Therefore new editions of this report will come whenever it is considered necessary. This is 2nd edition. The first edition was published in May 1993 and was at that time written as a common instruction for the Ore-, Industrial mineral- and Natural Stone database In order to get the database as unanimous as possible, it is necessary that all who are collecting data strictly follow these instructions. It is of special importance that one is aware of the fields which have option lists, because it is only options from these lists which can be stored in the database.
