dc.description.abstract | The region treated of in this paper lies to the Northeast of the region described by Reusch in his paper: The region between Bygdin and Bang. Kjerulf has divided the sedimentary strata in central Norway is sparagmite (Cambrian) blue-quartz with phyllite (Ordovician) and mountain-quartzite. Bjørlykke proves, that the region under consideration the mountain-quartzite embraces very little of true quartzite but gneissic rocks (designed as no. 4 on the map pag. 62) much altered finegrained gabbro (no. 5), and sandstones arcoses and conglomerates, often somewhat altered (no. 3). These formations are younger than the ordovician probably lying unconformably over it. (T\u00F6rnebohm claims them to be older rocks pushed sometimes over the younger rocks by enormous thrustplanes). | |
