The paper describes the rocks within a large gneiss-area in Sunnmøre district, on the north-west coast of Southern Norway, between Bergen and Trondheim. Besides the dominating granitic gneisses, the rocks consist of remnants of different supracrustal rocks like quartzites, scists, limestones and basaltic lavas. Relatively small bodies of different mafic and ultramafic rocks have been intruded. All the rocks, the supracrustals most thoroughly, have been metamorphosed and replaced (mainly by granitizing agents) in connection with orogenic movements. The author presumably considers the region being a central zone in the Calidonides of Norway.
