In the present paper a number of new observations are presented, and together with the published maps and descriptions, they form the basis of an attempt to distinguish the different tectonic units. These units form plateshaped decken, partly broken into imbicate structures with little folding. They are essentially made up of arcoses and greywackes. The arcose varieties are called red and light sparagmite. The greywacke complex is called dark sparagmite. It is concluded that the main structure along the valley of Gudbrandsdalen is as shown by fig. 2, comprising the following decken: 1. The Sparagmite Decke with the complete stratigraphic series of the Sparagmite Formation developed as seen in the calssis Mjøsa section (from Biskopåsen to Moelv in fig. 2). Details about the divisions are given by Oftedahl (1950 p. 219). The upper half of the series at Fåvang has a facies somewhat different from the southern development at Mjøsa. Further north the \"Fron Sparagmite\" of Bjørlykke (1905) is interpreted as representing this northern facies. The limestone which forms the uppermost horizon of the decke, is considered to represent the ortoceras limestone.
