A geological map and section of the island are presented. Despite the lack of sedimentary structures, the meta-sedimentary succession of limestones, overlain by pelite, overlain by a thick series of psammites is thought to be inverted on the basis of its similarity to the succession in the Loppen district and by the sense of vergence of the early minor folds. Three periods of deformation is distinguished.F1 predominates and forms a series of tight asymmetric minor folds, associated with a coarse lineation, which retain the same sense of vergence across the island. 1) F2 is represented by a single major fold exposed on the higher ground, minor folds, and a fine lineation on micaceous rurfaces. More brittle F3 structures are also recorded. The tectonic setting of Skjervøy in relation to the major Fl structures of West Finnmark is briefly discussed.
