Sammendrag
Grain size analysis and clay mineral investigations have been carried out. The cores consist of an assemblage of sand, silt and clay, where the clay content is gradually decreasing from the bottom towards the top of the cores. The main mineral constituents of the clay fraction are illite, kaolin, mixed layer-minerals, chlorite, quartz and feldspar. The sediment is assumed to consist of material washed out from the till deposits at the shallower parts of the shelf. The kaolin content of the clay fraction varies between 10 and 36%, and has probably been derived from the sedimentary rocks underlying the glacial deposits.
