Nogle notiser fra Sigdal og Eggedal

Abstract

Forkortet: The valley of Sigdal (dal means valley) with its continuation in Eggedal are situated to the West of Christiania in Southern Norway. The rocks are Archaean gneiss and granite with some gabbro. At the northwestern end of Eggedal about the farm of Kleiv begins the Algonkian \"Telemarkformation\" of fine grained gneiss and quartzite (At x on the Fig.A pag.5. Compare the lowest of the two pictures after photos). Fig.B shows a part of the bottom of the valley of Egge- dal. - The region has been so much depressed after the ice age, that the sea reached to the upper end of the Solheim lake about 160 m. above the sea (m-m on the first photo marks the old sea shore). Between the farms of Vad and Hovland was found a shell bank containing a fauna of the same character as that now living in the Northern part of Norway (Fig.C).
