In the Hardangerfjord area a shore-line diagram has been constructed on the basis of an earlier established shore-displacement diagram from Bømlo and 14C-dated marine levels from Stamnes, Bu and Eidfjord. Data from Nordhordland have been included in the diagram. The deglaciation in Samnanger and Kvam has been described in detail by means of the shore-line diagram, marginal deposits and ice-scouring analyses. Interpretation of the diagram confirms that the glacifluvial deposits connected with the Trollgarden-Eidsfjord-Osa stage are not contemporaneous. The Ice-margin deposits at Fjøra, Odda, Tyssdal, Kinsarvik, Rateig and Ulvik are penecontemporaneous (about 9800BP), while the deposits at Øystese, Botnen, Granvin, Eidfjord and Tveit are about 100 years younger. The previously reconstucted ice-margin from Ulvik via Voss to Sognefjord is a younger event in the deglaciation than earlier suggested.
