Mineral soil geochemistry in Møre and Romsdal county, Q-C report
Abstract
This report describes the mineral soil geochemistry results from two areas: 1) the entire Møre and Romsdal county (n= 430), and 2) the Ålesund municipality (Møre and Romsdal county; n= 284). The former is a continuation of previous surveys carried out in the Finnmark, Troms, Nordland, and Trøndelag counties. During the main field work in 2019 and 2020, and complementary field work in 2021, 714 locations were sampled. The Møre and Romsdal county was systematically mapped (i.e., regional survey), whereas targeted urban geochemical mapping was done in the Ålesund municipalitiy. For the regional survey, samples were collected based on a loose 6x6 km grid. Conversely, for the urban soil sampling surveys 5 to 30 samples were collected per km2 . For both surveys, the <2 mm grain size fraction was analyzed by IC-PMS for 53 elements following Aqua Regia digestion. Results are documented with respect to quality of data in tables with descriptive statistics, random plots, X-charts, and correlation plots. In addition, we report magnetic susceptibility measurements carried out on the regional geochemical mapping survey
