The article is the first report from the sewly established archives for well drillings in Norwegian bedrock. The number of wells is estimated to about 1300. The data, obtained in cooperation with well-drillers, concern mainly observations of depths and water yields of single wells. Depths range from 11 m to 226 m, the average being about 40 m. The yields range from 0 to 14 000 litres per hour; the average is between 1500 and 2000 litres per hour. The bedrock is mostly impermeable and has a porosity of only 0.5 to 1%. The storage capacity is estimated to be from 5 to 10 litres per cubic metre. The passage of water through the rock depends mainly on cracks, fissures and joints. Only some Permean lavas and sandstones of the Oslo region are per- meable; they have greater porosity also, and are the best aquifers in Norway. The annual replenishment and discharge of water in the bedrock are unknown, nor are the variations of ground water-level known from any reservoir. The article contain advice for well-drillers on the compilation of data. Also a list of the most important Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian litterature on water-supplies in the bedrocks of \"Fennoscandia\" is attached.
