In the area between Hardangerfjorden and Sognefjorden an oldest regional ice movement towards the west has been reconstructed. Younger regional ice movements were towards south-west in the southern parts. Therefore, an east-west ice divide was present in the Stølsheimen area. The immigration of Corylus and Alnus appears to be 800-1000 years delayed, compared with the western coast of Hordaland. The pollen diagrams indicate a Holocene vegetational history with more similarities with inland sites than with coastal sites.
