Forfatter fortsetter: Nilsson, L.-P., Often, M., Pedersen, P.B., Robins, B. The results of analysis. For platinum elements and gold are presented c. 385 samples (from existing collections) from a range of geological environments. Just under half of the analytical work (c.185 samples analysed by AAS and INA) was financed by the pilot project. C. 140 of these samples are from Ni-Cu deposits, chromite deposits in ophiolitic rocks or chromite-bearing rocks in ophiolites. The remainder are from weakly mineralized parts of layered ultramafic - mafic intrusions, komatiites, Alaskan-type ultramafic intrusions and eclogites. Two small Ni-Cu deposits, both in oceanic crustal rocks, contain > 5 ppm PGE + Au. Several Ni-Cu deposits of small to intermediate tonnage contain > 1 ppm PGE + Au. The most interesting result economically are 3.6 ppm (Os + Ir + Ru) from a chromite-bearing dunitic cumulate in the Leka ophiolite and values > 0.5 ppm PGE from chromitites in three isolated ultramafic bodies. Values found in other environments were low. Recommendations are given for futher work in the ophiolitic environment and elsewere.
