The Ulriken Gneiss Complex (UGC) and its sedimentary cover, the RundemanenFormation, have been investigated. The UGC is a Precambrian migmatite complexwhich suffered strong but heterogeneous reworking during the Caledonianorogeny. Rocks of the Rundemanen Formation occur along three major shear zonesin the UGC, and although strongly deformed, primary stratigraphic relations arelocally preserved. Based on a few key localities a general stratigraphy hasbeen established. A tentative lithostratigraphic correlation with rocks of theHedmark Supergroup and the Valdres sparagmites of southern Norway may indicatea Late Precambrian age for rocks of the Rundemanen Formation.
