The cave passages are mostly tunnel shaped, usually with a circular or elliptical section. These passages were formed when they were completely water-filled. Underground streams have later made cuts into the floor of some of the passages. The view presented as to the origin of the caves may be termed the subglacial theory of cave excavation.
