Forkortet: The Listaland is a low treeless tract of land at the open sea somewhat to the West of Lindesnes the southernmost promontory of Norway. The Listaland consists of moraine; its boundary line against the mountainous region (the Fjelds) is marked on the map p.89. Most of it (see for instance fig.1 p.90) lies lower than 20 m. Only in the immediate vicinity of the mountains in the northwestern part of the region the morainic material ascends to a height of about 75 m. The boundary line between Penne and Kalleberg is marked a-a on fig.2, p.90. One finds in the stones of the moraine not only Archaean and eruptive of the environings but also a fair percentage of rocks of the Oslo region, and we must suppose, that at one period of the Ice Age a large glacier following the Skagerak in the southwesterly directions has freighted stones from the Oslo terrritory to the southernmost coast of Norway. Small eskers rise at some places above the moraine as seen on fig.4, p.90. The sea has never covered more than a small portion of the Listaland. The uppermost shoreline is only between 9 and 10 m above the present middle water line. In the section at the coast fig.3 p.90 the flat X marks the highest strand of the sea, K in the same section is an old burial mound.
