The superficial deposits within the map-sheet Trondheim, Central Norway, are classified and described. The mountains generally have a thin and discontinuous cover of till. In the lowland areas fine-grained marine sediments dominate; these were deposited at a sea level c. 180 m higher than the present one. The ice-sheet receded before 11,000 B.P., followed by an advance to the Ekle-Tiller Moraines during the first half of the Younger Dryas Chronozone. The Brøttem Moraines, situated in the southeastern part of the map-area, were deposited during a younger glacial advance. Short accounts are given on shoreline displacement, river erosion and slides. The potential for different utilization of the superficial deposits is also briefly discussed.
