Sammendrag
This First Edition of the SEDIFLUX Manual is an outcome of the European Science Foundation (ESF) Network SEDIFLUX - Sedimentary Source-to-Sink-Fluxes in Cold Environments (2004 - 2006) (http:\/\/www.ngu.no\/sediflux, http:\/\/www.esf.org\/sediflux). The development of this publication has been based on four ESF SEDIFLUX Science Meetings, which were held in Saudarkrokur (Iceland), June 18th - 21st, 2004, Clermont-Ferrand (France), January 20th - 22nd, 2005, Durham (UK), December 16th - 19th, 2005 and Trondheim (Norway), October 29th - November 2nd, 2006. \rThe aim of this Manual is to provide guidance on developing quantitative frameworks for characterising catchment (field-based) sediment budget studies, so that: (1) baseline measurements at SEDIFLUX\/SEDIBUD key test catchments are standardised thus enabling intersite comparisons, and (2) long-term changes in catchment geosystems as related to climate change are well documented. The main focus is on non-glacial processes, although within the context of glacierised catchments glacial sediment transfer processes are assumed as inputs\/outputs of the periglacial \/ paraglacial system.\rThis First Edition of the SEDIFLUX Manual will be further developed within the I.A.G.\/A.I.G. Working Group SEDIBUD - Sediment Budgets in Cold Environments (http:\/\/www.geomorph.org\/wg\/wgsb.html).
