(forkortet) A review is given of the possibilities of Norway providing her re- quirements of potash by utilizing the raw materials witch are to be found within her boundaries, especially the feldspars. Hitherto Norway has been entirely dependent on the importation of essential potash salts from Germany, and a country whos fundamental industry is agri- culture, may be said to be in somewhat uncertain position under these circum- stances. Amongst the various possible raw materials, the conditions of Norway only in- dicate the potassium-bearing silicates, and hitherto only the feldspars has been taken into consideration as it present in large quatities in Norwegian rocks. The scarcity of the supplies of potassium during the war has greatly stimulated the investigation of the means of utilizing feldspars in this con- nection, and many proposals and parents have been put forward, mostly in the USA. It may be of interest and some importance to examine some of these in order to see whether they have any practical value under normal conditions.
